Premature & Early Menopause | POI and Other Potential Drivers

Summary. Having Premature Ovarian Insufficiency can drive premature or early menopause but a diagnosis of POI does not necessarily mean someone is post-menopuase. Some commonly identified drivers of premature and early menopause include: Premature Ovarian Insufficiency, genetics, surgically induced menopause, medical treatment induced menopause, and autoimmune diseases. Confirmation of underlying drivers should always be done in collaboration with your healthcare professional. Drivers of premature and early menopause are not always able to be identified. It is important to work with your healthcare professional if you're concerned you may be experiencing any of these conditions.
